What's the effect of the sulfur in the meal/black powder composition? /dj_doru666

Sulfur mainly speed up burn rate and sensitivity to most compositions. Sulfurless blackpowder can be made (80% KNO₃, 20% Charcoal) but even though sulfurless produces more gas than the tradional formula, it doesn't burn as fast. /Pudi

Thanks for the info Pudi. I made a (sulphurless) black powder rocket and it didn't fly - it just stood there and consumed the BP on the spot without flying an inch. Could the fact that the BP was S-less be the cause? /dj_doru666
